@FoxN16 It is variable, which is why I found it interesting and wonder why that is. Any idea? Pre-Bus Gate it felt that Church St was pretty busy in the morning so I expected that to be reflected consistently in Lordship Park, being one of the boundary roads affected.

@Marz372 Strategically timed? :) It’s morning rush hour, not 2pm or 4am. I’m sure it’s gets busier in other times of the day, it was interesting to witness that at 8:30am it was very quiet.

@netwench Do people have visibility of these stands when they book a bike to know if there’s one near where they are going? I’d think the convenience of dumping the bike outside a house or a shop will always win by the looks of things.

@netwench I’ve only ever seen the one in Woodlea Road/Church St opposite the Spence Bakery in use and then it’s always personal bikes. What’s the incentive for anyone using a hired bike to park it in one of these rather than dump it on the pavement when they get to their destination?

Considering how many cars would fill Church St at that time pre-Bus Gate I expected Lordship Park to be much busier during that time.

@danhoward01 I trust you and I’m merely explaining the rationale and expectations behind LTNs as expressed by advocates of the scheme. You pointed out there’s increase in traffic on some boundary roads so I explained that’s part of the plan to make driving inconvenient so people think twice.

@danhoward01 You’re right and they do and I agree. The rationale is that by making driving less convenient by displacing traffic to main roads, over time people will think twice before driving, especially a short journey and that’s how you ultimately get a reduction in the number of cars.
