@He_Len_Len @LD259100 I think @AbneyParkN16 is an anomaly to an extent and people these days have different views of what it is exactly. To some it's a wild park with 'some broken headstones' everywhere, and for others it's a cemetery first.

@LD259100 @He_Len_Len what is a 'park' anyway in this context? The name Abney Park dates back to the 18th century when it was a private arboretum so I wouldn't read that much into it. It was then Abney Park Cemetery and the 'Cemetery' was dropped from the name a while ago.

It was created as a garden-cemetery for recreation as well as burials, though it has evolved into something else.

It needs funds and making Abney as financially self-sufficient as possible is really important.

@cavallino28 I agree and in my view given a left turn still exists next to the one that’s been closed, a balance has been achieved. You have a different view on the matter and that’s ok. The decision was made and it’s being implemented at the moment so we’ll both need to get used to it.

@cavallino28 Slowing down in general is a good thing in a road like Albion Road. What’s wrong with that? It’s 20mph limit anyway. Waiting for 15-20 seconds behind a bus to make a turn is really not the end of the world, is it?

@cavallino28 Newington Green isn’t a tiny bit of Albion Road that can be closed off when there’s an alternative next to it. If you’re not a fan of making streets just a bit greener with fewer access points for motor vehicles where possible, that’s ok. I’m sure you’ll manage the left turn.

@Sprinzette The gravity of the situation and the need to act decisively and quickly by introducing relatively easy-to-implement interventions, means I think you can’t satisfy everyone. If Uber availability suffers a bit, but more streets are quieter, safer and less polluted it’s worth it.

@Sprinzette Once you deter the many drivers that take a car out for a short journey of 2 miles or less from making such journeys, people that REALLY need to drive will enjoy from less congested roads. Too many cars use the roads when driving anywhere is too east and convenient.

@Sprinzette It’s no surprise by the way that most people in my experience who object to terrific calming measures, have no practical alternative to reducing car dependency. They either don’t think it’s a problem in the first place or happy to maintain the status quo for various reasons.

@Sprinzette The thing is some people believe traffic behaves like water in pipes and all of it gets pushed if it’s blocked, when studies have demonstrated that because human behaviour is involved, traffic actually behaves like gas and some of it evaporates over time. Seems illogical to some.

@Roger89835988 From experience, the problem you run into is that they cannot or will not take bookings if they consider them to be 'too long' because of the filters if they don't have anyone nearby. From their office to Woodlea Rd for example between 7am-7pm requires a detour.
