@cemvecem There are 123 businesses in Church Street. It is easy to focus on the ones that change rather than the many that do not. Every year about five change, as part of a natural churn, especially at this time of year. The commercial occupancy rate is still very high at over 90%.

@BarbaraHearn @TheWollSoc What evidence is there that she opposed alcohol in general, please? From what I can tell, Mary Wollstonecraft was not a temperance reformer in any formal sense, but she strongly disliked drunkenness due to its connection with male violence and domestic abuse.

@sharlewis58 There have been a couple of planning applications for redeveloping the site: one in 2000 that was given consent but lapsed, another in 2006 for a building of 3 storeys + basement that was refused because of the substandard room sizes in the residential accommodation.
